Invitation to WIMA AL MARE - 19th to 25th July 2009

Organisational Team or the 'Geier-Wallys' *)

The team formed in 2003 at the WIMA in England. Back then it was necessary to group and the name 'Geier-Wallys' was quickly found as well. At that time we couldn't imagine that 10 years after at the 'WIMA Fantastica' in Walchsee, Austria, a dream would be fulfilled:

• Enjoying a WIMA at the waterfront
• A WIMA with guaranteed sunshine
• A WIMA with relaxing nights at the swimming pool

Briefly, a totally different WIMA. This is going to come true in a double sense of the word: On one hand because it will be a grandiose and pleasurable week and on the other hand because we will, according to a decision of the WIMA Officials, organise an inofficial WIMA. The official WIMA will take place in the USA. This means that we are free to plan and lead a wonderful week without any rules or regulations, which in our opinion are not necessary anyway.

Who are we?

We are 9 good-humoured and long-term WIMA women who enjoy riding motorbikes and getting to know other female enthusiasts. We are thankful to all those women who have already organised a WIMA. We have known each other for many years, some friendships going back to 1979. In this WIMA AL MARE we'd like to bring in our joy to organise and apply our expertise gathered on previous reunions. We come from Bavaria, Austria and even Switzerland and have chosen Lignano in Italy because of the distance being merely 500 km from our home town Munich.

The place

is perfect for a beautiful and pleasurable week, which means perfect for a WIMA meeting. The huge camping ground is 3 km away from the seaside, and it's very green with a lot of trees, a bar and a pool just for us. There are some 6-bedded apartments, and a bicycle renting agency. We have a lot of space for us, something that you wouldn't find in this area so close to the sea and at this time of year. Apart from some long-term campers, all the area and the sanitary facilities will be ours to use, there will be security as well. As Venice isn't far away this is also an opportunity to see this exceptional and unique city.

Registration

The form will be sent to the Captains in time (end 2008); registration will then be possible as of the beginning of 2009. You will find any important information thereto on this web-site. We look forward to meeting you in Lignano. You'll be talking about this event for years to come and remember it for even longer. I wish you a beautiful summer, hope you had a fantastic WIMA in Finland and look forward to a happy rendez-vous at the sea-side.

*) Geier-Wally (literal translation: vulture-vicky or similar), anyway IT'S NOT A WALLY (when choosing this name Monika did not think of the poor translator who had to struggle with this pitfall). Anyway, Geier-Wally was a strong, self-reliant, tragic woman in Austria in the 19th century, interested in - yes - vultures (in fact it was all about an eagle - but never mind).
